Twin Falls, Idaho is a vibrant college town with a population of around 50,000 people. It is situated in the Snake River Canyon, surrounded by farmland and livestock, and smaller farming towns like Filer, Jerome, and Kimberly. The city is popular mainly because of its close proximity to the Snake River Canyon and the renowned Shoshone Falls, as well as its proximity to Yellowstone National Park, Boise, and Salt Lake City. Twin Falls has a rich history that dates back to 1909 when the Twin Falls Land and Water Company was reorganized to become the shareholder-owned Twin Falls Canal Company.

In September 1974, Twin Falls came into the national spotlight when daredevil Evel Knievel attempted to jump the Snake River Canyon in a specially modified rocket. Excavations carried out in 1959 at Wilson Butte Cave near Twin Falls revealed evidence of human activity, including arrowheads which are among the oldest dated artifacts in North America. The city is home to the College of Southern Idaho (CSI), a large community college in the northwestern part of the city. It also has many other attractions such as the Twin Falls Public Library, the Twin Falls Municipal Golf Course, and the Joslin Field-Magic Valley Regional Airport. Summer and fall are very dry in Twin Falls with less than 2.5 cm (1 inch) of rainfall per month between June and October.
